This Morning viewers slam Spin To Win's new paid alternative as 'a fix'

ITV This Morning fans called the Spin to Win alternative "a fix" to entice future callers.

This Morning's Spin to Win competition invites callers to be in with a chance to win a cash prize if they answer the word of the day. If they are successful, they will be given the chance to spin a wheel or bingo ball cage with prizes ranging up to several thousand pounds.

The game has been a staple of the show for years but was removed entirely today to welcome an alternative - 12 at 12. Josie Gibbson presented the competition as she swapped the usual studio backdrop for a black curtain setting with 12 large gold vaults.

One lucky caller was given the chance to open six of the 12 vaults and take home whatever prizes were behind the doors. The first to ever play the game, she walked away with £11,250 which viewers are calling a "fix" to entice others to play. The caller didn't have to answer any questions as, simply because they were selected, they were able to walk away with whatever prizes they chose.

One viewer said: "FIX!!! #ThisMorning." Another added: "A fix for the first time of the game surely." A third said: "What a coincidence. That's like when I bought the first ever scratchcard at the WHSmith I worked at and won £100. Totally not a fix at all. Hmmm."

Other viewers weren't happy the new competition cost viewers to play, with each entry costing £1.50 plus standard network rates. Another added: "Sorry but I will not be playing the new game #ThisMorning as we now have to pay to enter, bring back Spin to win."

The competition came under fire several weeks ago for introducing a new prize to the Spin to Win wheel - energy bills. The new addition would cover a caller's energy bills for a period of time, eventually bumped up to a three-month period following its initial backlash.
