This Morning viewers were equally inspired and baffled by London barrister Samantha Kane who appeared on Thursday's instalment of the ITV show to open up about her experience transitioning from male to female three times.
Samantha, 62, is the only person in the UK - and possibly the world - believed to have changed gender three times.
The barrister and property tycoon, born Sam Hashimi, transitioned from male to female in 1997 for the first time, but changed back to being a male in 2004 for the sake of her family.
However, after spending 14-years living as a man again, Samantha knew her life didn't feel right, and in 2018, she went through her final gender change to a woman.
Now, after purchasing her own castle in Scotland, Samantha wants to be known as a ‘Lady of the House’.
Samantha joined This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in the ITV studios on Thursday to open up about her eventful life transition from male to female and back again, and why she is finally comfortable in her own skin.
While sitting on the couch with Alison and Dermot, Samantha explained that after her first gender transition - when she transitioned from male to female - she decided to live her life as a man again for the sake of her children in 2004.
After her transition appeared to put strain on her family, Samantha - who went as Sam when she was a male - put her happiness on hold for her kids for fourteen years, but when they were old enough, she decided that the time was right to live her life as a woman again.
"I always thought they were embarrassed by me. I always thought maybe what I was doing was unfair to them or that I was asking too much of them to respect their father as a woman," Samantha explained.
"It was a sacrifice but I did it out of love for my children. But I just couldn't do it, I just couldn't live as a man. The second time around, I spent the years from 2004 to 2018 living as a man," she added.
In 2018, Samantha transitioned again, this time as a female, and when asked whether she would ever consider living her life as a male again by Alison, the London barrister explained that she's now finally happy in her own skin after years of doubting herself.
"No. I am who I am now. No more changing. I'm happy in my own skin."
It's clear that Samantha's amazing story struck a chord with This Morning viewers as dozens flocked to Twitter to praise the brave woman.
"Samantha Kane is so inspiring. To sacrifice her happiness like that for her children. It's amazing and so sad at the same time. Such an interesting life story," one viewer tweeted.
"So nice to see people like Samantha on This Morning telling her story," another echoed.
A third shared: "Gosh, imagine transitioning from male to female, then from female to male, and then doing it all over again. That must have been a very confusing life."
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
