This Morning viewers ask 'is it?' as Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle issue clarification before complaints

It appears This Morning viewers were feeling the Glastonbury hangover as they were left questioning whether it was in fact the real Elton John opening the latest episode of the show. The ITV daytime programme was back on air on Monday (June 26) with Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle at the helm.

Viewers were pleasantly surprised to see the pair after expecting Holly Willoughby to return to hosting duties after finishing her working week last Thursday (June 22). Instead, it appears the 42-year-old TV star was taking a rest day after enjoying the delights of Glastonbury over the weekend.

And in the spirit of the festival, which came to a triumphant end on Sunday night (June 25) with a jam-packed set from Sir Elton, This Morning decided to get in on the action in a bid to keep the party going on a slightly dreary Monday morning.

But while they may not have woken Elton from his post-Glato slumber, they did rope in one of his tribute acts for an energetic performance of I'm Still Standing which had Josie and Craig up off the show's famous sofa and on their feet as they wore funky glasses inspired by the superstar singer.

This Morning viewers, however, were a little confused with what was going on as one viewer jokingly asked: "That's not the real Elton John, is it? #ThisMorning @ThisMorning." Another tweeted: "Had #thismorning on for five seconds and elton johns on and i just need to go for a walk. heads baffled."

But a third complained: "From the sublime #glastonbury2023 to the ridiculous #elton is this the best you could get #thismorning." A fellow viewer pleaded: "Were all the good Elton impersonators busy? Make it stop #ThisMorning," while another added: "Oh it's not really Elton? #thismorning #itvthismorning," which came after it appears Josie and Craig had to issue a clarification.

"Well, just when you thought last night's Glastonbury performance was Sir Elton John's final farewell think again, he's done another song, especially for us. Thank you so much Elton," Josie said as applause rang out in the studio.

However, Craig said: "I think if you look a little close, actually quite close because he does actually look exactly like the legend himself, it is actually tribute act, Ultimate Elton, aka Paul Bacon." Josie then added: "You'd never know!"
