This Morning star tipped to be host of ITV2 Big Brother revival

This Morning’s Alison Hammond is tipped to be the new host of Big Brother. The presenter, who is currently on her summer break from the ITV morning show, is understood to be a frontrunner to be the 'next Davina McCall' on the ITV2 reboot.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Big Brother would be returning to screens for the first time since 2018. Its return was announced during the final of ITV2’s Love Island. Big Brother will make its comeback on ITV2.

Alison is no stranger to Big Brother, launching her successful career on the 2002 series, when it aired on Channel 4. Mum-of-one Alison, 47, was voted out after 15 days in season three, which also featured Kate Lawler, 42, and Jade Goody, who died of cancer aged 27 in 2009. ITV bosses have now reportedly suggested that she'd be the perfect to host the revival.

A source told The Mirror: “Alison is top of the list to present next year’s Big Brother. Execs think she’s exactly what the show needs. She’s energetic, fun, relatable and she was on the show, so she knows it inside out.”

Alison has made it clear that she wants to be considered for the role. When she was a guest on Channel 4's The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, he asked if she would consider hosting and she said: “I think so. They need to change it up a bit. We’ve got to put it out there in the universe. Let’s make it happen.” Read here to find out why Big Brother needs to be a little different when it returns.

Alison faces stiff competition to host, however, as Big Brother superfan and former Bit on the Side host, Rylan Clark, has also thrown his hat in the ring. Despite this, he has said that he hasn't been approached and previously tweeted: “Should clarify. I’ve not been asked to host the show."

Big Brother is returning to TV screens next year (ITV)

Big Brother first premiered in the UK on July, 18 2000 on Channel 4, and featured a 24-hour live feed that allowed fans to tune into the house at any given time. It ran on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 before moving to Channel 5 from 2011 to 2018.

Whilst an official date hasn't been confirmed for the series' return, ITV has announced the reality television series will make its return in 2023. It will launch on channels ITV2 and ITVX.
