This Morning's Vernon Kay fires scathing fashion dig at shocked guest

Vernon Kay was forced to do some hasty backtracking on Tuesday's This Morning, after shocking the show's resident style guru Louise Roe with a scathing fashion dig.

As Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby continue their Easter break, ex Family Fortunes presenter Vernon is enjoying a stint as the ITV daytime programme's main host, alongside Josie Gibson. Many viewers have described them as a 'breath of fresh air,' largely thanks to the light hearted tone of their approach to the show and the on screen chemistry they share.

So it came as something of a surprise when usually mild-mannered Vernon was far from kind about a dress Louise was showing off as part of a fashion segment during Tuesday's episode. Louise, once a star on MTV series The City, held up a long white dress with floral print for viewers at home and Vernon and Josie to cast their eyes over. The dress, from Oasis, came with a price tag of £63.20, with Louise remarking: "I love it. It's very on trend."

However, just as she as delivering her description, she spotted Vernon looking distinctly unimpressed, forcing her to pause and ask: "Vernon! What's wrong?" Not holding back, he swiftly replied: "Well, I'll be honest with you, it reminds me of the Big Bad Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood.

"You know when it disguises itself at the end of the book? That's the kind of thing I'd imagine it to wear." Vernon's brutal critique prompted co-host Josie to put her hands over her face as Louise fired back: "I'm sure after that description it's going to sell."

After Vernon then offered an apology to Oasis, Louise added: "Anyone who's watching, I love it. That's a gorgeous collar. It's giving me Bridgerton vibes."

Moments later, Vernon changed tact when he did some more backtracking to heap praise on Oasis, saying: "Oasis have nailed this summer season haven't they?"
