This Morning's Vanessa Feltz in tears as fiancé serenades her live on 60th birthday

Vanessa Feltz broke down in tears on This Morning today as her fiancé serenaded her live on air to help her celebrate her 60th birthday.

Ben Ofoedu, 49, shocked Vanessa by phoning into the ITV show as a 'fan' wanting to wish her happy birthday - before emerging from the wings of the studio.

As he held a huge bunch of flowers and a mic, Ben sung to Vanessa as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were shocked by his vocals.

Vanessa broke down in tears and Ben handed her a bunch of flowers before leaning down to kiss her on the forehead.

Holly exclaimed: "That's your handsome stranger!"

"Oh my goodness," Vanessa gushed. "Oh wow."

"Happy birthday sweetheart," Ben told her. "Night out tonight and then I'm whisking you off to Hatton Gardens to buy some nice jewellery."

Vanessa looked stunned as Phil said: "There you go! Have a lovely day, both of you."

"Thank you so much," Vanessa said, while Phil asked Ben when his birthday was.

"Mine's in June, so it's going to be a big one," Ben replied.

Holly wished her happy birthday again as Vanessa exclaimed: "Thank you do much! Oh my god, I can't believe it! When I heard that person on the phone I though, 'Oh my god, they're not really coming in, are they? They sound so peculiar!'"

Today, Phil also celebrated his 40th work anniversary, with Lorraine Kelly dedicated a whole hour to him.

His wife Stephanie Lowe and daughter Molly appeared via video link to pay tribute to all of his achievements over the years.

Quizzed on what the key to Phil's success had been, she said: "I don't have a clue! I think your previous guests have hit the nail on the head. He's genuinely interested in people and the news. He's great fun!"

"I've always been so proud of him," Molly replied as she recalled queuing up for his autograph once.

Lorraine asked: "What do girls mean to you?"

"Everything! I mean, we clearly had changes in our lives," Phil replied. "But as I said, it's always been us four, but slightly different. Steph has been the most incredible foundation and support and rock throughout my career.

"The girls, I couldn't be more proud of. So yeah, we are a family."
