Rylan Clark was triggered by This Morning guest Gyles Brandreth's 'cruel' wind up on Thursday, days after being terrified by the appearance of a snake in the studio.
Much to the delight of many viewers, former X Factor star turned Strictly It Takes Two and Radio 2 host Rylan has made an unexpected return to the daytime programme alongside Ruth Langsford, with the pair the latest duo to benefit from a presenter shake-up by producers.
In the opening moments of their first show together on Monday, Ruth quizzed Rylan about a video of his that caused a stir on social media, after he found a snake in his kitchen. The hosts were joined by an animal expert as Rylan expressed his alarm at the shock discovery, before a cruel trick was played on him when a snake handler walked on set armed with a massive python.

Rylan looked terrified as the man and the snake inched closer to him before, very reluctantly, reaching out a hand to touch it. Snake fearing This Morning viewers at home, had plenty of sympathy for Rylan but studio regular Gyles clearly saw an opportunity to wind him up as he arrived for the show on Thursday dressed in a very eye-catching jumper, featuring a snake.
Looking mischievous as Rylan gestured towards his choice of knitwear, Gyles commented: "I wore it specially for you for you. I'm trying to...this is a kind of therapy....aversion therapy," just as snake rattling sounded out around the studio and a worried Rylan looked around shouting: "Stop it! Is that man back?"
Fellow guest Sonia Sodha looked to reassure him, glancing at Gyles' jumper and saying: "It's a very friendly snake," but, far from convinced, Rylan replied: "I think that Gyles makes it friendly."
