Phillip Schofield has an answer for any "conspiracy theorists" questioning the Dancing on Ice finalists. It comes as the This Morning presenter, along with co-host Holly Willoughby, who also present the ice skating show, caught up with Brendan Cole, Regan Gascoigne and Kimberly Wyatt ahead of Sunday's final.
The Dancing on Ice final will take place on Sunday from 7pm on ITV. Those hoping to tune into the Dancing On Ice final on March 20 were disappointed as the finale episode had been cancelled because the show had been postponed to make way for the live FA Cup Football. It means the three finalists left in the Dancing On Ice competition have longer than usual to perfect their routines in the hopes of impressing judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean
On Thursday's This Morning Phillip told the dancers who have made it to the final: "Obviously there are thousands of conspiracy theorists - 'it's a fix, it's unfair' - all of that sort of stuff. And no matter how many times you get people like Jayne and Chris saying yeah you might be able to dance and that might give you a little bit more elegance, it's not taught you how to skate."
He continued: "You are all dancers but you are learning to skate for the first time. So Regan, has it helped having that dance background? I'm assuming maybe muscle memory - being able to remember moves might help?"
Regan told him: "Yeah, I think we are so used to taking on routines, I think that does help. But when it comes to the ice skating, it is totally different. Everything has to be in a sequence and a step but maybe I know how to hold my arms and stuff but that is about it. Everything else is just brand new. It's just a whole new ball game really."
Brendan added: "It's been a really nice thing for all of us, we've pushed each other with our dancing abilities. When I see Regan do something and he does something really beautifully, it makes me want to be better and same with Kimberley. So I think that push between the three of us in particular has been good for us and hopefully good for the series. So yes it's a fix because we are all really good dancers but no trust me it is very different on the ice," he joked.
Taking to Twitter, many viewers commented on the finalists' dancing abilities. One said: "I just can't make my mind up on which one will win. Will it be the professional dancer who looks like he's skated his whole life, or the other two?"
Another said: "People accusing them of being cheaters because that’s what they are, there’s no point trying to deny it because nobody believes you." While a third added: "Being able to dance f****** helps though smug!"
