Phillip Schofield revealed how he had his own special request denied by the staff at Buckingham Palace as This Morning made a move to the royal residence. The presenter and co-host Holly Willoughby had the honour of hosting Tuesday's show from the Queen's London home.
The pair travelled to the landmark home in the capital to host the first part of the ITV daytime programme live ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations next week. This show started with a revamped set of titles featuring the theme tune being played by a royal band. "This Morning by royal appointment," a message read on screen before the latter part of the message changed to "from Buckingham Palace."
A white taxi was then seen making its way through the gates and into the grounds of the palace before Holly and Phil could be heard talking before Holly, 41, let out a gasp as she stepped out of the car in a floral, pale yellow dress while her co-host looked dapper in a navy blue suit as they walked up the red carpet into the iconic building.

The hour in the palace featured Gyles Brandreth reflecting on his memories of the Royal Family, a tour from the hosts of the State Room and into the Picture Gallery, and Gok Wan who unveiled a special item from Her Majesty’s wardrobe - an outfit worn by the Queen at the Diamond Jubilee.
Meanwhile, chef Phil Vickery took viewers inside the Royal Kitchens and met the Royal Household’s Head Chef, Chris Tombling. Chris revealed the preparation behind each Buckingham Palace Garden Party - 20,000 sandwiches, 26,000 cups of tea, plus 20,000 cakes including scones. Talking about the ”meticulous” detail of the sandwich slicing, Phil explained, “They even take off the corners - 20,000 sandwiches!"
He then joined Holly and Phillip live and presented the hosting duo with a plate full of scones that had been topped with jam made with fruit from the grounds of the Queen’s various homes. And Phillip, 60, ended up revealing that his request about the sweet treat was rejected.
He said: "Because I grew up in Cornwall I'm very much the other way. I'm hoping I don't get anyone into trouble, but this morning I did say is there any way I can have one the other way around with the jam first and then cream on top." He then added: "I was told very politely that was not the Buckingham Palace way."
Chef Phil then remarked: "When you come here you eat exactly what Her Majesty eats." Soon after, he asked Holly if she wanted to try one, she replied: "Delicious, yes. I’ll take one and nibble it in the break," while taking the tray off Phil. But her co-host Phillip was instantly panicked, as he weighed in: "Just don’t drop it on the carpet!"
The pressure then got to Holly as she said: "Let's just go to the break," as the others laughed. They went on to to tease what was still to come before adding, "It's fine, I'll just hold them. I don't want to move. I'm just frozen on the spot."
