This Morning's Phillip Schofield breaks social media silence after 'queuegate'

Phillip Schofield has broken his social media silence after the "Queuegate" row saw him and co-host Holly Willoughby hit with Ofcom complaints.

The two faced backlash after being spotted in Westminster Hall at Queen Elizabeth II's lying-in-state. This Morning issued a statement to defend the hosts over claims they skipped the queue to pay their respects to the former monarch.

The statement insisted they were there in a "professional capacity" and Holly later said they would never take anyone's place in the queue.

Holly has since returned to social media, sharing a number of Instagram updates including one to celebrate her son's birthday, and a number of posts featuring her outfits ahead of This Morning appearances. But Phillip has remained quiet, until now.

On Thursday, the 60-year-old shared a "thank you" post with his many followers. It came after he received a beautiful bunch of sunflowers.

Sharing a snap of the bouquet, he said: "Sunflowers always make me smile, thank you", suggesting they were given to him as a gift.

Fans were unable to comment, as he has restricted the settings on his Instagram page, but Holly quickly posted a series of sunshine emojis.

Phillip also shared a snap of himself alongside Gino D'Acampo and Gok Wan on his Instagram story. Text over the selfie reads: "Love these guys".
