This Morning's Phillip Schofield apologises to Corrie stars after interview surprise

This Morning's Phillip Schofield apologised after the show sprung a surprise on two Coronation Street stars.

The 61-year-old broadcaster fronted ITV's flagship daytime programme today alongside Rochelle Humes. They interviewed soap stars, Jack P Shepherd and Colson Smith, as they prepare to take their hit podcast, the Sofa Cinema Club, to the stage.

The actors are joined by Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley in Corrie, on the podcast which sees them select a new film to discuss each episode. Jack and Colson have appeared on Coronation Street since they were 12 and the show started the interview by broadcasting their first ever Corrie scenes.

Phil said: "Before we find out what it was like to watch eachother's favourite movie for the first time and they don't know anything about this. Why dont we remind ourselves what it was like watching them for the very first time. Sorry guys."

Craig Tinker is having chewing gum in his first scene and the hosts were in hysterics as Colson shared a behind the scenes secret of what happened as he debuted in the role. He said: "For my audition I couldn't chew chewing gum and I didn't know how to blow a bubble so I spent hours chewing gum to blow a bubble.

"The jogger bottoms I'm wearing in that scene were the jogger bottoms I wore to work that day because nothing else fit." Jack has played David Platt for the past 23 years and he was mortified as he revealed how Ken Barlow star, William Roache, confused him with his onscreen counterpart in recent weeks.

He said: I'm walking down the corridor and Bill Roache came in and I said 'hi Bill, are you alright?' and he went 'morning, David.' I thought really? Is that where we are? I'm not gonna go, it's Jack because that's going to destroy his brain."

Colson was in stitches as he added: "He's called me Colin since day one. "
