This Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby share hug live on air as she leaves show

This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had a touching moment on Wednesday's This Morning, sharing a hug live on air, before she made an early exit from the show.

Right at the start of the third episode of the week, Holly announced that she would be missing in action for the final half an hour of the 150 minute live broadcast, due to a Royal engagement. Having been at the Prince's Trust Awards earlier in the week, Holly explained that she was off to Buckingham Palace to introduce one of the winners to King Charles.

Her meeting with Royalty meant that Holly had to make a swift exit from This Morning, leaving Phillip to front the final 30 minutes on his own.

And, as rumours continue to swirl about an apparent feud between the two presenters, they appeared closer than ever seconds before Holly left the studio.

After Phillip checked that Holly had everything she needed for the afternoon, Holly told him: "I'm going, be good. Don't be naughty" before leaning in for a cuddle and to kiss him on the cheek."

Phillip replied: "Happy to hold the fort. Goodbye now, goodbye. And don't forget, it's Your Majesty, it's Your Majesty!"

Last week, Phillip released a statement to try and shut down speculation he and Holly had fallen out, saying: "The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us."As I have said before, Holly is my rock."

He continued: "We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone. "Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her."
