This Morning's Phillip Schofield accused of giving 'arrogant' response to complaints from viewers

Phillip Schofield has been branded 'arrogant' by This Morning viewers, for his response to complaints about a giveaway on the show which didn't sit well with people watching at home.

During their first show back after a long break for summer and after making a bizarre late arrival in the opening minutes, Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby welcomed back This Morning's daily game show Spin to Win. The segment invites viewers to contact the programme to be in with a chance of winning big money prizes, by giving the day's correct pass phrase.

Spin to Win has a habit of descending into chaos when viewers fail to pick up their phone at all, answer by saying hello or give the completely wrong phrase when prompted by Phillip and Holly. But, rather than it being a caller who attracted the attention of viewers who tuned into Monday's show, it was one of the prizes on the Spin to Win wheel that became a massive talking point online.

Next to various amounts of cash, was a prize to get energy bills paid for four months, as concern over the cost of living crisis and huge increase in rates grows every day. On clocking the offer, some viewers said it hit home the 'reality' of the dire situation the country is currently in, that a daytime TV show was offering to help viewers pay their bills, while others accused the prize of being 'in bad taste.'

Within minutes of Monday's game of Spin to Win airing, Twitter was littered with criticism and presenter Phillip was clearly very much aware of the grievances aired by viewers as she addressed them live on air 24 hours later.

As he and Holly kicked off another game of Spin to Win, Phillip announced that This Morning bosses has been "extremely generous," and the bills prize had been upped to include 'all household bills,' before sarcastically quipping: "Wonder how much of that they can complain about online?"

And, just like the introduction of the prize a day earlier, Phillip's comment provoked a huge reaction, with many unimpressed by his attitude. One reacted: " @Schofe you're arrogant, self centred and out of touch," while another tweeted: "Phillip is detached from reality and sneers at complainers."
