This Morning's Phillip and Holly suffer setback as show dealt 'unxpected' awards blow

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have suffered a setback this week, after This Morning was unexpectedly beaten at the TV Choice awards, having won the Daytime accolade for seven years in a row.

It's now been two months since the show's main presenting duo found themselves the target of a huge online backlash, after being accused of 'jumping the queue' at Westminster Hall, as the Queen's body lay in state before her funeral. Both This Morning and Phillip and Holly refuted the allegations a gainst them, with Holly explaining they'd been granted access to the Hall, along with other members of the media, to cover the events following Her Majesty's death and didn't get 'the same opportunity' to pay their respects as members of the public, some of whom queued for over 12 hours to see the Queen's coffin.

Among the many who queued up, rather than being given 'VIP access,' were David Beckham, Kelly Holmes, Susanna Reid and James Blunt and, while Holly and Phillip's denial attempt to play down any wrongdoing, the controversy surrounding what happened rumbled on for weeks.

The 'queue jump' row didn't harm This Morning's fortunes at the National Television Awards in October, although votes for that were cast before the controversy unfolded. However, there was to be no win for the ITV show at the TV Choice awards earlier this week, as they lost out in the Daytime category for the first time in eight years, with The Chase taking home the trophy, much to the shock of its stars.

Other winners at the London ceremony, included Emmerdale for Best Soap, Strictly Come Dancing for Talent Show, I'm A Celebrity for Entertainment and Heartstopper for Best New Drama, following its much condemned 'snub' at the NTAs.
