This Morning's Phillip and Holly centre of Buckingham Palace bombshell after royal invite

This Morning viewers Phillip Schofield and Holly Willouyghby had some big news for viewers who tuned into Monday's show. And it's all to do with the fact that the programme will soon be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace.

Having been a main presenter on ITV's recent Jubilee celebration in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne, Phillip will join regular co-host Holly at the world famous location on Tuesday, May 24. The news was teased as two members of the London Fanfare Trumpets began playing and guest Gyles Brandreth walked through the studio doors to read out an exclusive invitation from Buckingham Palace.

The regular contributor read: "“Dear Mr Schofield and Ms Willoughby, you have been given a royal appointment for tomorrow, as we will be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. He added: "You will be taking a look back at the Queen’s magnificent 70 years of sovereign, with a host of special guests. We look forward to welcoming you live from 10 o’clock tomorrow morning as the celebrations begin at Buckingham Palace.”

Reacting to This Morning's shock change of location for one day only, Holly said: “I’m so excited. That almost made me cry!’ Phillip added: “Beautifully done!”

Referencing the fact they'd previously been allowed on set at Downton Abbey, Holly then remarked: “Downton Abbey and now Buckingham Palace - we do get the keys to all the best houses in Britain, don’t we? Phillip agreed, replying: “We really do! But this is the best one!”

This Morning's Jubilee special from Buckingham Palace will see Gok Wan will give a tour of the Picture Gallery and tell the story of some of the most exclusive art work in the world. He will also discuss the Queen’s incredible style evolution over the past eight decades, and how her fashion choices have inspired generations.

Horticultural expert David Domoney will explore the Queen’s favourite corners of her garden, while chef Phil Vickery will experience the royal kitchens and reveal the origins of legendary Palace recipes. And, after being the man to deliver the big announcement, Gyles will be back to take viewers on a look back at the Queen’s history-making 70-year reign.
