Love Island 2019's runner-up couple Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury have made headlines recently after announcing the birth of their daughter. As joyous as this news is, there's one thing that has captured people's attention the most - her name.
Pretty Little Thing ambassador Molly-Mae and boxer Tommy revealed on social media on Tuesday (Jan 31) that they've decided to call their new bundle of joy Bambi, with a picture of her lying in a cot below hanging decorative clouds. Bambi is a name of Italian origin and is thought to derive from the word 'bambino', which means 'child'. It is also the title of a famous Disney film.
As sweet as many people find this name to be, there have been others less impressed with the couple's choice, with debates taking place across social media and TV. However it seems Molly-Mae has not let any negative comments phase her as she shared a video of herself holding her new born as she gushed: "I am obsessed with being your mum, Bambi."

Among those involved in chatting about the new parents' decision to give a Disney-themed moniker is This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as they shared their thoughts during Wednesday's (Feb 1) show. During the segment, they welcomed guests Vanessa Feltz and Tom Swarbrick into the studio to give their opinions, as reported by the MEN.
Reading out a headline, Phillip said: "It sparked conversation, should parents be thoughtful about what they name the children." Holly, 41, added: "Cute."
Phillip then went on to say: "Social media users have helpfully pointed out that Bambi is a boy in the animated film but neither of us even knew that." Vanessa asked: "What does it matter?"
Mum-of-three Holly quickly jumped in to defend Molly-Mae and Tommy's choice of name, saying: "Shall we first say congratulations to Molly-Mae and Tommy for their baby because that's the most important thing. They've brought a healthy life into this world and they're absolutely delighted."
Phillip, 60, then jumped in to also defend the little one's name and shouted: "Is it anyone's business what you call your baby?"
Many people took to Twitter to have their say on the matter. While referring to the Disney film, where the main character called Bambi - a young deer whose mother gets killed, @Laurenmaxwellxx said: "Bambi Fury sounds like a f****d up sequel to Bambi where he goes and kills the hunter that shot his maw."
@Katiemedleyy stated: "The name Malibu Barbie is more normal than the name Bambi and I am so serious." @Jasebyjason asked: "Does Molly-Mae not know what happened to Bambi’s mum?"
@LivingLifeAsLu added: "Molly mae is the prime example of “Remember you are naming an adult human not a baby” like poor Bambi is gunna have to go to Starbucks or into an interview or apply for a mortgage one day with that name."
Meanwhile, @Holliemparsons admitted: "I for one think the name Bambi is very cute." @Hannahlouisef added: "I'm sorry Bambi Fury is one of the coolest names I've ever heard, what are you all on about." @Rosiemiu put: "Bambi is a beautiful name for a girl."
