This Morning's Josie Gibson taken aback by 'unusual' Royal present giving tradition

This Morning's Josie Gibson was taken aback by a Royal family Christmas tradition.

The presenter fronted today's edition of ITV's flagship daytime programme alongside Craig Doyle. The episode was festive themed as the countdown to Christmas reaches its final stages.

They were joined by King Charles' former communications sectretary , Kristina Kyriacou, who provided an insight into how the Royal family celebrate Christmas. King Charles III will host the main celebrations at Sandringham later this week.

Josie quizzed the expert on the differences between the Royal Christmas as Kristina revealed they don't share presents on the traditional day of December 25.

She said: "The tradition has been at Sandringham they lay out their Christmas gifts on trestle tables and just around teatime, they open their Christmas gifts on the 24th."

Many would expect the Royal Christmas to include the sharing of expensive gifts, but the expert revealed it is the exact opposite as she said Princess Anne once jokingly gave her brother a toilet seat. She said: "I should say at this point that I don't think there are any enormous outpourings of cash with the Christmas gift.

"It's very much a jokey, humorous gifting. It's almost who can get the most laughs with their gifts. I think a lot of fun is had."
