Josie Gibson was emotional as she hosted This Morning on Monday when conversation in the ITV studio turned to her son’s recent health scare.
The Bristolian was hosting the ITV daytime programme alongside Craig Doyle, while regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy their summer break.
The 37-year-old TV presenter praised the NHS during a discussion after she revealed her son was rushed to hospital with a painful arm injury caused by an accident on a trampoline ladder.
Josie revealed the news as she shared an X-ray of her three-year-old son's arm and thanked medical staff for putting him "back together again".
Discussing the NHS staffing crisis with panellists Giles Brandreth and Matthew Wright, Josie shared her own experience of the public health service.
Josie welled up and said: “I just spent the night in hospital and I was just in awe.”
Confirming that Reggie had to have “metal wires put in his arm”, she was asked by her co-host Craig for an update on Reggie's health.
Josie replied: “He's really, really good and I can't thank everyone in that theatre enough. I would have paid anything.”
Josie said her son was taken to A&E and needed surgery on his arm as she shared the image of the X-ray on her Instagram story.
Josie wrote: "Thank you to the theatre at the @ruhbath. You've put my little prince back together again.
"Reg has a new terminator arm. A victim of a trampoline ladder."
In the second post, Josie shared a Photoshopped image of her beloved son, who will turn four in September, as Iron Man.
It was captioned with: "Reggie-James is Iron Man." She then added: "Thank you to my @thismorning family for making this. LOL."
Josie shares her three-year-old son with her ex-boyfriend Terry and earlier this month she discussed being a single mum to her son and how she juggles it with work.
"My weekend starts with cuddles with my son Reggie," she told the Mirror.
"If I’ve got energy after working I’ll cook a meal, but we love going to David Lloyd for some food – it’s walking distance from our house. Then we’ll lie on the sofa, watch a film and snuggle."
The This Morning host also admitted that while she enjoys spending quality time with her son, it rarely is relaxing.
"Reggie is only three so I never get a lie-in – not even on weekends," she said.
"We’re always up early but we just like to chill at the weekends. It’s Reggie time – we do whatever he wants to do, which usually includes eating out!
"We live in Bristol but we love going out in Bath and we always have a roast dinner on a Sunday. We tend to go out for it, but I do cook a very good roast dinner."
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
