In With A Shout's Joel Dommett: Model wife he met on Instagram, online sex scam and 'awkward' Strictly meeting

Joel Dommett seems to, well and truly, be the man of the moment. On Saturday, April 8, The Masked Singer star will front new ITV game show, In With A Shout.

The new series, which consists of six episodes, sees contestants challenged to shout at the TV in order to win a fortune. With an impressive prize of a whopping £20,000, the contestants will have to answer questions hidden within a montage of moving images.

Joel's new game show comes following his stint on This Morning last month. The 37-year-old sat in for Phillip Schofield while he was on holiday and was an instant hit with viewers - read more about that here.

But who is Joel’s wife (who he met on Instagram), how he was a victim in a catfishing sex scam and why was it so ‘awkward’ when Strictly Come Dancing won the NTA last year? Here’s everything you need to know.

Who is Joel Dommett’s wife?

Joel and wife Hannah attending the National Television Awards 2022 (PA)

Joel married Hannah Cooper in 2019. They began dating in 2016 after she sent him a "cat with the heart eye emoji" in an Instagram direct message.

Hannah was born in Holland and has more than 89,000 followers on Instagram. She has modelled for several high-street brands, including Boux Avenue, M&S and MissGuided.

In April 2022, the married couple started their podcast on Global Player titled Never Have I Ever. At present, Joel and Hannah do not have any children.

Joel catfishing sex scam

In 2015, Joel found himself embroiled in a sex scandal. He was left horrified after being duped into having Skype sex with a woman online.

At the time, what Joel didn’t realise was that the lady, who called herself 'Staci', was actually a recording that a hacker had used to trick male celebrities into exposing themselves before capturing the footage.

Speaking about the incident, Joel wrote in The Sun, back in 2017: “I thought for a second, then immediately typed: “Why not?!” He recalled how the woman claimed that her microphone was broken, so the pair would not be able to talk on the call.

“Cut to two years later. I was added on Twitter by an account called CelebrityBusted. In the biog it says: 'If we follow you, we have naked pictures of you. Follow us and DM us to stop us from releasing them.'

“At first I thought, 'What? Why would anyone have naked pictures of me?' And then I thought, 'No, Staci, no!', and then, 'No, I’m so stupid' — and finally I realised it was obviously a fake person.

“It was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I wrote a show about it. Because I knew it was going to come out at some point.”

Joel Dommett’s ‘awkward’ Strictly Come Dancing blunder at the 2022 NTAs

Joel has hosted the NTAs twice (ITV)

At last year’s National Television Awards (NTAs), host Joel could be heard struggling after Strictly Come Dancing’s win in the Talent Show category. 2021 champions Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice gave the winners' speech as they were joined by many of the cast, including pros like Nikita Kuzmin and Nancy Xu and celebrity contestants such as Rhys Stephenson and Dan Walker.

It took a while for the Strictly stars to arrive on and leave the stage and, as they did, Joel clambered up the steps and could be heard muttering what sounded like: "This is awkward. Didn't rehearse where I'd come in," before going straight back into presenter-mode to shout: "Well done guys, well done. The prop guy got a thank, I like that!"
