Joel Dommett's This Morning debut rocked by nerves as host suffers 'sleepless night'

Joel Dommett has admitted he didn't get a wink of sleep' ahead of his This Morning hosting debut, adding he was hit with nerves as soon as opening titles rolled and the shows famous theme tune kicked in.

After Alison Hammond had come into replace the absent Phillip Schofield on Monday and Tuesday, ITV viewers fully expected her to be fronting the show alongside Holly Willoughby for the whole week, but, late on Tuesday, it was announced that Masked Singer star Joel would be joining her to host with Holly on Wednesday and Thursday.

Joel's unepected role as This Morning presenter quickly became a big talking point, with many viewers tuning in at 10am to catch him in action uin the famous studio for the first time.

And Joel was happy to confess that the nerves had definitely kicked in, telling Holly: "I wasn't nerves until I heard the theme tune," with her replying: "It's that iconic sound. It's like ;it's happening!'"

Joel then added: "I didn't sleep a wink," joking to Holly: "Will you hold my hand under the table?" The former I'm A Celebrity star also revealed something his wife had said to him as the clocks ticked down to his big TV gig, explaining: "She said I have to be careful not t6o do my Masked Singer voice in the morning!"

It took just moments of cameras rolling on Wednesday's show for Twitter to be flooded with opinions on Joel being a This Morning host, with one viewer posting: "omg I'm so happy to see @joeldommett hosting today!!!!! Amazing choice guys!"

Equally excited, a second tweeted: "JOEL DOMMETT PRESENTING THIS MORNING... WOAH"
