This Morning's Holly Willoughby makes 'brave' Instagram move amid Phillip Schofield scandal

Holly Willoughby has made what fans have labelled a 'brave' move, as she tries to move on from the scandal surrounding This Morning and her now ex co-host Phillip Schofield.

Less than a week after very publicly quitting the ITV daytime show via a statement on his Instagram story, on Friday, Phillip, 61, released a statement with the Daily Mail, admitting to having an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a much younger This Morning colleague.

In the statement, Phillip apologised for lying to his ITV bosses, his agents, his lawyer and his family over the relationship, which ITV in turn, claimed they investigated in 2020, the same year that Phillip came out as gay.

Phillip announced in the statement that he wouldn't be hosting the upcoming British Soap Awards and would be leaving ITV altogether with immediate effect, with hs agents then confirming that they'd dropped him.

Holly broke her silence on the matter on Saturday evening, also on Instagram, with her writing: "It's taken time to process yesterday's news.

"When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It's been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie."

And, unlike Phillip, who has disabled comments on his Insta profile so that no one can post, Holly has decided to leave hers on, meaning that the presenter has been met with both positive and negative reactions from social media users.

Responding to Holly's decision, one follower wrote: "Holly, I'm not a fan of you right now, but I do have to say that I think you're actually very brave to leave the comments on under your posts. People are saying horrendous things, but maybe you need to hear them."
