This Morning's Holly Willoughby 'cut' from show as ITV absence continues

Holly Willoughby was noticeably missing from a preview on what's coming up on This Morning this summer, as her absence from the show continues and former colleague Eamonn Holmes predicts she'll never return.

At the end of a week that saw her and now ex co-host Phillip Schofield plagued by rumours that they'd had a 'falling out' behind the scenes and were embroiled in a bitter 'feud,' Phillip announced he was leaving the show, insisting that he was looking forward to working with ITV again and would be back on screen to host the forthcoming British Soap Awards.

However, things then took a turn on Friday evening, when Phillip released a statement admitting to an affair with a much younger This Morning staff member, with the presenter also apologising for lying to his agents, lawyer, co-workers and family over what he called an 'unwise but not illegal' relationship.

In the immediate aftermath of his confession, Phillip was dropped by his agents and exited ITV with immediate effect.

So far this week it's been business as usual for This Morning, as Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary continue to take the reins and, during Wednesday's episode, the presenters announced they'd be giving viewers at home a teaser of what the show had in store for the summer. The video featured ITV stars like Craig Doyle and Gino D'Acampo, but there was no sign of Holly.

And her absence from the video came just a day after Eamonn, who left This Morning at the end of 2021, told GB News colleague Dan Wootton that he believes Holly will never be back on This Morning.

In an explosive sit down interview, Eamonn said: "I don't think you will ever see Holly Willoughby back on the couch. There are people that say for her it's not about what Phillip did; for her it's not about protecting the young fella involved or whatever. There are people who are financial experts who will say 'This is about brand protection with her; she's got her company and she's got advertising deals, which suspiciously looks like she's trying to distance herself from Phillip to protect those."
