This Morning's Holly & Phil offer to pay for obese man's £15k loose skin surgery

This Morning stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have offered to pay for an obese man to undergo surgery to remove loose skin after his 18-stone weight loss.

Darren 'Dibsy' McClintock has undergone a total makeover in the last year as he shed the pounds with the help of a personal trainer.

However, he's been left with loose skin all over his body that he just can't shift and NHS bosses have refused to cover the £15,000 surgery.

Holly and Phil were so moved by his plight, the both pledged their own cash to help him get the operation.

Phil urged Dibsy to set up a crowdfunding page for the op and said both he and Holly, as well as This Morning bosses, would all contribute.

He said: "If you start crowdfunding, the show will put money in and Holly and I will put money in. You deserve to get this done."

Dibsy was previously told by doctors he was eating himself to death while weighing in at a life-threatening 40st.

The 27-year-old took drastic action and got help from personal trainer and friend Mike Hind, who put posters up with the message: "Save Dibsy. Obesity is killing him. Do not serve this man."

The pair returned to This Morning today for the fourth time to reveal he'd lost 18 stone and was on track to reach his role of shedding 19 stone by October.

He's previously been diagnosed with a dangerously high heart rate, but now Dibsy's heart is beating just fine.

He explained: "The doctors took me off all medication, my heart is now a normal rhythm - it's beating perfect."

As well as totaly changing his diet and exercise routine, Dibsy has also competed in a charity boxing match, climbed Ben Nevis and plans to enter the next great North Run.

He admitted he's astonished by his progress as this time last year he "couldn't' even walk tot he car".
