This Morning's Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have bizarre row... about desserts

Exasperated This Morning viewers have threatened to switch channels after Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford had yet another on-air spat.

The married couple had only been on the screen two minutes and already they were bickering.

The pair are well known for their amusing squabbles, but today’s was on an especially bizarre subject.

It was prompted by the ITV show's phone in about puddings, or specifically, the fact that a quarter of millennials have apparently never tasted flan.

This prompted Ruth to reel off a few retro desserts, such as a roly poly and Spotted Dick - but Eamonn has no idea what she was going on about.

“It’s a sponge pudding with sultanas and raisins in it,” she said, surprised about his lack of dessert knowledge.

"That's the spotted bit. I'm not sure where the dick bit comes in."

Eamonn made the point that it isn’t an Irish dish, along with toad in the hole.

“I am the king of desserts,” he claimed.

But Ruth hit back: “You didn’t know three of them.”

Eamonn repeated that they were English dishes, and revealed that in Ireland it was all about Angel Delight and Arctic rolls.

He then went on to complain that you can’t get a sherry trifle from supermarkets anymore, to which Ruth reasoned it was probably because of the alcohol in it.

“Well you just made that up,” said Eamonn.

When she said she meant probably, he hit back: “I think you’re probably wrong.”

But that wasn't the end of it - Eamonn had another pop at his wife after she cut across one of his laments.

"Why do you keep interrupting all my stories when I'm re-living the heyday of the seventies?" He moaned.

Obviously it was all light hearted banter between the two, but today, some viewers had had enough.

“Ruthy and Eamonn having another domestic,” one tweeted.

A second said: “Having to turn off #ThisMorning already. Do these 2 ever stop bickering?”

A third posted: “Ruth and Eamonn have been onscreen for about 2 minutes and I’ve already reached tolerance with their cringey domestics. Ugh, what a turnoff.”

Another viewer predicted: “It's good natured banter and it's who they are, but *one* of these days one of them is going to say the wrong thing and it's all going to kick off big style.”

Going back to the cakes, other viewers scolded Ruth for her poor spotted dick knowledge.

One ranted: "Spotted Dick is made from SUET, NOT SPONGE Ruth!!! And U criticise Eamonn!!!"

Another added: "Pretty sure its SUET not sodding SPONGE."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
