This Morning's Dermot O'Leary shares Coronation Street disapproval as he points out 'ropey' issue as Stephen poisons Elaine

Dermot O'Leary wasn't shy in sharing his disapproval at a moment seen in the latest episode of Coronation Street after seeing a teaser while hosting This Morning. The presenter was at the helm of the ITV daytime show alongside Holly Willoughby when they were joined by 'Soap Queen' Sharon Marshall.

Discussing what's happening in Corrie as well as Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and EastEnders this week, Sharon spoke to the hosts about Corrie's current storyline involving Stephen Reid and his fiancee Elaine Metcalfe.

Viewers of the long-running ITV soap know that Stephen has secretly taken out a life insurance policy on his future wife as he looks for more desperate ways to raise cash in order to buy Carla Connor out of Underworld with rival businessman Owen Longford currently his competition.

After an outburst in the factory, which was spotted by Michael Bailey, Stephen headed home and suggested again to Elaine that they should buy Carla’s share of the business. But when she snapped at him and spelt out that she will never invest a penny in the factory and they should simply enjoy their retirement, Stephen masked his fury.

That was until later when he replaced her blood pressure pills with caffeine pills. However, as viewers saw during Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles (June 14) Stephen realised the blood pressure pills he had replaced with caffeine pills weren't quite working fast enough and resorted to lacing Elaine's tea which he has form for having done this to his boss Carla but with LSD.

His future wife then took a funny turn and Stephen swiftly made an made an excuse to get out of the house at the same time Elaine finally collapsed and hit her head as she fell. The businessman and secret serial killer then arrived bac in time to find Elaine unconscious but quietly backed out of their home to keep him from getting caught.

Later, he saw Sally Matcalfe in the street beside an ambulance who informed him Elaine had been found after she somehow regained consciousness after her tumble and was able to call 999 for help and was later told at the hospital that they couldn't find any cause for concern and that she could go home the following day.

But when seeing a preview of the scenes during This Morning, Dermot didn't mind pointing out what he thought was an obvious problem. The 50-year-old joked: "I would say the blame partially lies with her [Elaine] if you're willing to accept a cup of tea that looks like that!"

He then added: "This is Coronation Street, you should literally, your standard of tea should be right sky high. That's a ropey looking cuppa!"
