This Morning's Dermot O'Leary replaced by Josie Gibson who hosts with Alison after another shake up

This Morning viewers were surprised on Friday when Dermot O'Leary was nowhere to be seen and Josie Gibson stepped in to host alongside Alison Hammond.

Thanks to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield 's absences, Holly's through her work on a new BBC series and Phillip's due to Covid, there have been a long list of presenters in the ITV studio over the past month.

Rochelle Humes presented alongside Phillip for two weeks as Holly took her break and, then when Phillip was forced into isolation by a positive test result, Josie, Vernon Kay and Alison all had a shot as main presenter.

And last week Alison and Dermot were in charge for a full week as Phillip and Holly took time off for half term.

Dermot and Alison have been the regular Friday hosts on This Morning for over a year now, having replaced Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford but former X Factor presenter Dermot was nowhere to be seen this Friday.

The first many ITV viewers knew about his absence was when Lorraine Kelly crossed over to the This Morning studio from her show and she was greeted by Alison and Josie.

The official reason given for Dermot being missing in action this week is that he is "on a day off."

And there was a real difference in opinion of a Alison and Josie, rather than an Alison and Dermot partnership.

One viewer reacted: "Am I the only one who prefers Dermot and Alison?"

A second took to Twitter to post: "i can’t believe someone thought it was a good idea to let josie and alison present tomorrow together," but a fan defended the duo, replying: "I’m obsessed they need a pay rise."
