This Morning's Dermot O'Leary forced to correct alarming Covid claim made about The Queen

Dermot O'Leary was forced to intervene to correct a claim made by This Morning guest Nicola Thorp that The Queen had 'just had Covid.'

Dermot, who is hosting the show this week with Alison Hammond, was involved in a discussion about the Royal Family, in the aftermath of the news of Prince Andrew's court settlement and a video of Her Majesty looking frail as she attended a royal engagement on Wednesday.

Kicking things off, Alison said: "I think it's just reminder that she's, how old is she? She's 95-years-old and it's just a reminder that she is quite frail isn't she?"

Quick to reply, former Coronation Street star Nicola said: "She's just recovered from Covid don't forget!"

She went on: "We know that The Queen really cares about her service, going out to visit people.

"She's not been able to do that for the last week; she lost Phillip last year. It's difficult to see somebody you look up to in a frail state."

As the conversation turned to Prince Andrew and the impact his out of court settlement would have on another victims of sex trafficking, Nicola said: "I don't particularly agree with the Royal Family. I think I we started society tomorrow we wouldn't have one., it would be insane.

"That's not to say I don't think she' a lovely lady and I wish her well and all the best, but when it comes to links with Prince Andrew, I just wish she would completely cut him off.

After talk moved to whether Prince Andrew should be stripped of his Duke of York title, Dermot jumped in to correct Nicola and address her claims about The Queen having coronavirus.

Dermot said: "Just one correction. I think you said The Queen had Covid. Obviously Prince Charles had Covid."

A flustered Nicola responded: "Sorry!" adding: "Of course, Prince Charles had Covid!" before Dermot told her: "It's OK, no big deal."

Dermot's correction came to late for the show as viewers were already in uproar. One took to Twitter to rant: "Did this awful woman say 'the Queen has just recovered from Covid'????"

A second posted: "why did Nicola Thorp say the Queen had Covid!? Where did she get that from??" and another questioned: "Have I missed something Nicola, when did the Queen have Covid?"
