Dermot O'Leary issued a sheepish apology after branding Alison Hammond a b**ch, as his co-host was left horrified by the foul mouthed insult.
As Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby continue their break from presenting the ITV daytime show, Dermot and Alison are at the helm once again, but things took quite the turn when Alison reacted to a clip of Dermot presenting Big Brother's Little Brother 20 years ago.
In the video Dermot had much shorter hair and, reacting to it, Alison remarked: "You should so go back to a bald head. Why don't you shave your hair off? Look how fit you look!"
In response, Dermot joked: "Just call my wife now and see if she'd like me to shave my hair," before the camera cut back to the pair in the studio.
Alison then asked her presenting partner in crime; "How do you feel when you see yourself like hat? So young!" She added: "You were so good on that show," and it was that statement that provoked the savage jibe from Dermot, with him replying: "Just on that show? Such a b**ch!"
Alison did a sharp intake of breath and responded "ooh," telling viewers at home: "Apologies for that language," as Dermot quickly offered a single word apology of his own, by saying "Sorry," before moving on with proceedings.
While Dermot tried to sweep the moment under the carpet, it quickly gathered a big reaction on social media, with some viewers condemning his choice of words, while others said they loved 'the banter' between the two hosts.
Far from impressed, one blasted: "Dermot disgustingly calling Alison a b**ch. Get rid," with another reacting: "Omg did Dermot just call Alison a b**ch on #ThisMorning."
However, others say the funny side, with one fan commenting: "Dermot calling Allison a b**ch on live tv is the highlight of my day #thismorning love them both," and, in agreement, a second wrote': "I doubt they’ll top Dermot calling Alison a bitch on live TV so I’m off out to catch some rays."
