Alison Hammond has confirmed that she and Dermot O'Leary will be taking a break from This Morning, after being the main presente4rs on the show for the last few weeks.
As Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take their extended leave over the summer holidays, Alison and Dermot have been given the chance to be at the helm of the ITV daytime programme on a full time basis in their absence. But, they soon will too take a break, with Rylan Clark and Ruth Langsford making unexpected returns to the This Morning studio to take the reins..
Other hosts being brought back for the remainder of summer include Craig Doyle, who earned rave reviews after hosting with Alison on numerous occasions this year; fan favourite Josie Gibson, Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes.
Alison announced news of her and Dermot making their exit on Thursday's show, when she said: "This is our penultimate day, and then we're on holiday aren't we?" Standing next to her, Dermot nodded in agreement before Alison put on a sarcastic voice and said: "Oh, what a shame," as they both started laughing.
Former Big Brother star Alison reminded her Instagram followers on Friday morning that it would be her last show for a while as she uploaded a short clip to her story. And, then minutes into Friday's This Morning viewers, some people watching at home claimed it was 'obvious,' Alison was becoming slightly annoyed by Dermot.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "I’m getting the feeling Alison is in need of a break from Dermot!" Picking up on exactly the same thing, another tweeted: "Why does Alison seem so irritated at times by Dermot."
The allegations from viewers come days after Dermot branded Alison a "b**ch," live on air, after she joked with him about an old clip of him hosting Big Brother's Little Brother from 20 years ago.
Dermot was all smiles as he shared a backstage picture of himself in the studio on his Instagram grid moments before cameras rolled, writing next to it: "We’re signing off in style for the summer as we’re joined by @daisyedgarjones chatting about her new film ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’, @thebodycoach is back on the road and the cast of @mammamiamusical are here! Come join us on @thismorning on @itv now!"
