This Morning's Alison Hammond stars in Sainsbury's Christmas advert - medieval version of Teenage Dirtbag

This Morning's Alison Hammond is the star of the show in Sainsbury's new Christmas advert.

The bubbly Brummie, 47, stars as The Countess in the film in which viewers find themselves transported into an imaginary medieval world.

As her royal subjects bring an array of deserts, Alison, looking stunning, sporting a regal gold frock, says: "I've never really liked Christmas pudding - bring me something different - or else".

After ferreting around the kitchen, accompanied by Wheatus’ ‘Teenage Dirtbag’, a young cook unveils another Christmas pudding.

However, luckily for The Countess it's caramelised biscuit flavour, which Alison concedes is "a bit of me" before bursting into laughter.

Speaking about her role in the advert, the Big Brother star said: “I absolutely loved playing The Countess in this year’s Sainsbury’s Christmas advert. It got me feeling all festive and was such a laugh!

“The Taste the Difference Caramelised Biscuit Christmas Pudding was absolutely a bit of me and will definitely make an appearance on our table this year. Just not sure if I can wait until Christmas day to try it again!"

On casting the This Morning presenter, Laura Boothby, Head of Campaigns, at Sainsbury’s said: “Food plays a central role in any celebration, and we wanted to bring to life the imagination and innovation that goes into creating our Taste the Difference Christmas range.

"We also wanted the ad to provide some fun and light-hearted Christmas cheer and who better to do that than Alison Hammond."

Alison recently said she should have won the best presenter gong at the National Television Awards instead of Ant & Dec, who scooped the award for the 21st time in a row.

The much-loved presenter took to the stage along with her This Morning colleagues, when the show won the award for best daytime show.

Philip Schofield assured the audience the gang did not take the award for granted before offering the mic to Alison, who jumped at the opportunity to address the audience.

Looking stunning sporting a sparkling red ballgown, she said: "Can I just say, we are so grateful for this award, honestly, I think This Morning is a mood and I ain't going to lie now, we all knew I should have won one of these as well.

"But you know what, Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant & Dec are amazing.

"But let's be honest, I should have won it innit. But This Morning got one anyway, well done This Morning!"
