This Morning's Alison Hammond shares health update amid allergy struggles

Alison Hammond has opened up about her struggles as she felt the wrath of hay fever after waking up on Friday morning.

Opening up on This Morning, the presenter told her co-star, Dermot O'Leary, that she had started to fight the seasonal allergy which affects millions.

Despite her struggles, the 48-year-old put on a brave face as she told viewers at home that she would continue to plough through her presenting duties.

On the show, Alison and Dermot were joined by the likes of Paddy McGuinness as well as the UK's Eurovision Song Contest hopeful, Mae Muller and actress Hannah Waddingham.

As the pair kicked off the show, Alison was asked how she was feeling and responded: "Argh, hay fever kicks in today, is anyone else at home feeling that hay fever fire?

"I think it's tree pollen – apparently, so yeah, I've got a lot of hay fever going on but we're going to get through this together."

Alison went on to explain to O'Leary that she woke up and instantly felt "different", before adding: "You know, hay fever, runny eyes, the nose thing, I don't feel too well."

It comes as the star, who found fame on Big Brother, was drafted in to replace Phillip Schofield on the ITV daytime programme on Monday and Tuesday as he takes a period of leave.

Phillip has been away from screens in recent days but he and Holly Willoughby will be taking time off for the Easter holidays.

Instead, former X Factor host Dermot and Alison will be taking the helm for the week, after Alison had already stepped in to present alongside Holly for two days.

The star had been supported by Holly following a recent split, with her pal becoming an "agony aunt" and helping to lift her spirits by instilling her with confidence and positivity.

Alison recently took to social media to share that she will "always win" following troubles in her personal life.

The defiant presenter took to Instagram to share a video of herself smiling as she lay in bed.

A man's voice can be heard saying over the top: "You want to know the four main reasons why will always win?

"I don't hate on nobody, I pray, I stay in my own lane and lastly, I'm not competing with nobody except for myself."

She captioned the post with a red heart and fans were quick to show their support for the mum-of-one.
