Alison Hammond called a brief halt to Friday's This Morning to issue a direct appeal to viewers at home over a special surprise the show is getting set to spring.
As she does every Friday and fresh from being a victim of Undercover on Saturday Night Takeaway, former Big Brother star turned This Morning favourite Alison, joined forces with Dermot O'Leary to host the daytime show, with the pair welcoming guests like Spencer Matthews and Fleur East into the studio. Another guest who appeared alongside them on set was This Morning's resident vet, Dr Scott, who took a series of calls from viewers who sought advice on issues relating to their poets.
And, it was as she drew the segment with Dr Scott to a close that Alison took a momentary pause to the packed schedule to invite people watching at home to get in touch in the run up to International Women's Day, which this year, falls on Wednesday, March 8. Hinting that This Morning bosses have something special up their sleeve for the annual event, Alison explained: "Now, just a quick word about next week. On Wednesday, we're celebrating International Women's Day and we want to hear about the inspiring women in your life, who you think deserve a special treat."

Sitting next to her, Dermot added: "We're going to be surprising an incredible woman on Wednesday's show," as he gestured in Alison's direction, before revealing how viewers could make a nomination.
This Morning's plans for International Women's Day follow the announcement of Loose Women's latest body positivity campaign, Celebrating Every Body, which will coincide with Women's Day and involve several of the show's stars being open about the struggles they've been through and how they've learnt to feel good in their own skin.
