This Morning's Alison Hammond confirms new romance with candid reply to Lorraine Kelly

Alison Hammond has confirmed she has a new love interest, giving a candid reply to Lorraine Kelly after Dermot O'Leary let the cat out of the bag on This Morning.

While Alison was planning on keeping her cards close to her chest when it came to her love life, her This Morning co-host Dermot had other ideas and, during an episode of the ITV daytime show last week blurted out: "You’re not available anymore, but if you were, jeez what a catch!”

Playing coy, former Big Brother star Alison replied: “What do you mean I’m not available? I’m available," before reprimanding Dermot for "telling the world."

Before she teamed up with Dermot to once again host This Morning on Friday, Alison appeared as a guest on Lorraine to talk about her new children's book Black in Time, which sees the TV star look at black history and the important figures who have had a huge impact on modern life and culture.

Alison spoke about the importance of children to have figures to be inspired by and "aspire to," adding: "This book is for all children, not just black children, all children, to share stories. I think it's important to read about other people's histories. These are people that are unknown, hidden in the shadows and I've brought them to life. It's about making sure their legacy is alive."

After being inspired by Alison's comments about her book, Lorraine changed the topic and put Alison on the spot about her personal life, saying: "Congratulations...I know because Dermot revealed it everybody. You were trying to keep this lovely romance under wraps," as Alison replied: "I didn't want to put pressure on it."

Lorraine added: "It's great, just great," with Alison responding: "All I'm going to say is, I'm not going to say we're in love all I can say is he makes my heart sing and I feel content and he enriches my life in ways I've never had before."

Giving her her support, Lorraine said: "Alison you don't have to say anything more than that. Anybody who does that for you, that's fabulous."
