Alison Hammond has said she doesn't feel Chris Rock's Oscars joke "warranted physical violence," from Will Smith, as new footage emerged of Jada Pinkett-Smith in the immediate aftermath of her husband slapping the comedian.
The scandal that is still dominating headlines, during Sunday night's live Academy Awards broadcast, eventual Best Actor winner Will walked onto stage and hit Chris after he made a "GI Jane 2" joke at Jada's expense. After returning to his seat, King Richard star Will shouted twice: "Keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth!"
Will has apologised to Chris, while the Oscars governing body, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have said Will was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, adding they were "initiating disciplinary proceedings," against him.

On Friday's This Morning, Alison, co-host Dermot O'Leary and studio guest Gyles Brandreth watched a new clip of Jada appearing to laugh in her seat after Will struck Chris.
Reacting to it, Alison said: "Personally, I didn't feel it was the best of jokes, but I didn't feel it warranted physical violence. It was really out of order.
"Why did he feel like he needed to do that then and, secondly, why didn't he just make a statement? He was just about to win an Oscar why didn't he give a statement, at that point, and say 'listen what you said was bang out of order.'
"This moment has taken away from the rest of the Oscars. Everybody else's Oscar. I'm never going to remember anything else about the Oscars ever again."
Focusing on the footage of Jada, she added: "I don't understand. For me, I don't know what Jada's face is doing. I don't know about you, but I can laugh in nervousness.
"I have laughed in situations that haven't been appropriate; it happens sometimes."
