This Morning's Alison Hammond backed by co-stars as viewers call for changes

Alison Hammond has been backed by This Morning colleagues as viewers call for big changes on the ITV show, with some claiming a complete overhaul is in order.

As they always do when the schools break for holidays, the ITV show's usual presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby have taken a week's holiday, leaving former Big Brother star Alison and her Friday co-host Dermot O'Leary at the helm. And the shake up of main presenters has led to viewers calling for bosses to make permanent changes to the line-up and have Alison on screen more often.

The calls come as Alison is still getting over ' breaking' America as a montage of some of her funniest This Morning moments made it onto a primetime comedy show in the States. As she and Dermot took the reins of Monday's show, Alison was joined in the studio by regular guests The Speakmans. The well known therapists took to their Instagram story after coming off set, with them writing: "Great to be on @thismorning with @alisonhammond and @dermotleary."

Alison also shared a post from another This Morning co-star, good friend Josie Gibson. Josie, another presenter many This Morning viewers want to see on screen more often, posted a selfie of her and Alison to her Instagram, calling Alison her 'ride or die.'

A photo Alison shared on her own Instagram grid of her and Craig Doyle on set, after the ex Holiday host joined her on Friday sparked plenty of comments from fans, who said that they needed to replace Phillip and Holly. One commented underneath the picture of the two presenters to write: "Pref you LOADS more then P and H. You’re real, funny and amazing!" Echoing those sentiments, another posted: "Craig should be on this morning more often laughed a lot when he's on."

Other viewers are calling for a complete refresh of This Morning's hosting line-up, with one critic taking to Twitter to comment: "Dermot is not a experienced presenter, it takes to long for him to string a sentence. Alison gets too angry. We need new experienced presenters. New fresh presenters. Holly & Philip have too favouritism getting paid having too much time off."
