This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary suffer live TV 'fail' at hands of ITV colleague

This Morning didn't get off to the smoothest of starts on Wednesday, as hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were guard off guard by a fellow ITV presenter.

As the controversy surrounding their now ex colleague Phillip Schofield continues and, with Holly Willoughby still on her 'break' from the daytime programme, former Big Brother star Alison and X Factor host Dermot have been enjoying an extended run as main anchors of This Morning, after Holly started her leave of absence a week earlier than expected.

The pair were back at the helm for a third time this week, with viewers seeing them on set as Lorraine stand in host Ranvir Singh brought her show to a close on Wednesday. But the big problem was, that Alison and Dermot seemed completely unaware that they were on screen as Ranvir cut to them.

When Ranvir attempted to hand over to This Morning, she was greeted by silence from the presenters, forcing Ranvir to ask: "Are you ready for us?" There was then an awkward pause, before Dermot eventually realised he was on camera and live to the nation and started to give a preview of what was coming up on the show..

After he and Alison gave viewers a quick teaser of what they had in store, the camera cut back to Ranvir and, not addressing what had just happened, she replied: "No-one noticed Dermot, no-one noticed."

On the same day that Phillip Schofield announced he was leaving This Morning, ITV bosses confirmed that Holly would begin her holiday with immediate effect, having only originally meant to be off for half term week. It was explained that Holly would be back on air on Monday, June 5, but now questions have been raised about her future on the show.

And one of her most fierce critics, former This Morning host Eamonn Holmes, has declared she 'will never be back on the couch again' as he critcised both her and Phillip.
