Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary ignored Eamonn Holmes' bombshell accusations as they fronted This Morning today.
The pair kicked off the show by sharing with fans what was to come on the programme, with no mention of Eamonn's bombshell claims that Phillip Schofield's affair with a younger colleague was "totally covered up" by ITV.
In an interview yesterday, Eamonn blasted his former employer ITV as he addressed Phillip Schofield's affair with a colleague.
Eamonn was a previous host of This Morning, where he would front the show on Fridays alongside Ruth Langsford before Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary took over. In the bombshell interview, he claimed it was a "total cover up".
"It's an illusion, it's an illusion," he alleged as GB News presenter Dan Wootton asked: "Isn't it a cover-up?"
"It's a total cover-up. Those in authority had to know what was going on and they thought they would dodge a bullet with this, and they do constantly. With Schofield talking about 'those who speak out against him' namely me, Amanda Holden, [Dan Wootton], you'll be included in the toxicity, Dr Ranj... you simply think, 'No mate, you've had it all your way for far too long.'"
A spokesperson for Phillip declined to comment last night when contacted by The Mirror over Eamonn's accusations.
Over the weekend, the news of Phillip's affair with his colleague was announced. At the time, ITV confirmed they had investigated "rumours of a relationship" between the former This Morning host and a younger colleague but found no evidence of it.
A spokesperson told The Mirror: "When rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated. Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip's then agency YMU. In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour. Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship."
