Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are returning to This Morning, just as viewers are calling for a complete overhaul of the show's hosting line-up.
There was a mixed reaction a few weeks ago when Phillip and Holly announced they were taking a break for Easter, with ITV then announcing that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary and Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay would replace them. Alison and Dermot got a full week at the helm of the programme earlier this month, before Josie and Vernon hosted the Monday-Thursday episodes last week.
Alison and Dermot were back as hosts for Good Friday and once again on Easter Monday, when they were joined by TV icon Basil Brush. And, as they came to the end of the show, some viewers at home were saying the same thing - they want them on full time. Alison and Dermot have been permanent Friday presenters since the start of 2021, taking over from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, and, while they initially divided many opinion, they've now got plenty of fans amongst ITV viewers.

Championing them as full time This Morning hosts, on the eve of Phillip and Holly's return date, one Twitter user posted: "This morning is SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER WITHOUT HOLLY AND PHIL!!! Stick with Vernon, Josie, Dermot and Alison. They are all so much more fun, and not up their own a**es!! I only watch it when Holly and Phil are on holiday." Having a similar reaction, a second posted: "If dermot and Alison presented @thismorning full time I would watch everyday … I only end up watching when they’re on!"
At the end of Friday's episode, another viewer commented: "I think dermot &alison should take over from phil & holly as they have lost the spark they had. they are getting money for doing nothing except sitting and talking rubbish’ Phil always has that smug look on his face." However, Phillip and Holly do have some support out there, with one taking aim at Alison and Dermot to write: "Not watching todays #ThisMorning as can’t stand Alison and Dermot hosting it. thank god Phillip and Holly are back tomorrow."
