This Morning's Alice Beer shares 'secrets' to bargain buys at Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco

Alice Beer delighted frugal shoppers who tuned into This Morning on Monday, by revealing how to bag bargains at a string of UK supermarkets, including some free items.

Former Watchdog presenter Alice joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby's replacement, Josie Gibson, in the studio.

And the hot topic for the consumer expert this time round was when to go shopping at the likes of Aldi, Asda and Tesco, with tips for Morrisons, Lidl and Sainsbury's customers as well.

Beginning with Aldi, Alice said: "The reduced red stickers are quite rare and the times to vary, but it will be 75% off perishable fruit, veg and meat on the last day.

"Look out for imperfect packing - 30% off - who cares about packets? Half the stuff shouldn't be in plastic anyway!"

Moving onto Sainsbury's, she said: "Again, it varies from store to store, some canny shoppers say it goes down 25% at 1pm, it goes down 50% at 5pm and 75% between 7 and 8.

"At 7pm in a Sainsbury's, you will find the majority of items reduced. They put them all one designated section."

Tesco - end of day biggest reductions. Alice explained: "On Sundays it's earlier. Tescos are very good at distributing their unused food, especially the bakery section on the Olio app.

"You'll be able to collect free bakery items: bread, croissants, all the pastries from Tesco all on that app."

Morrisons, Alice said: "End of day. All the bargains are out at Morrisons. Look for their Magic Bag on the Too Good To Go app.

"The Magic Box has a value of £10 but you can buy it for £3.49."

Alice added: "Don't be afraid to ask the staff in stores for any of these things. That's what they're there for; they're there to help you get what you want and you want a good deal on your shopping."

Talking about Asda, Alice advised that most reductions would be gone by 9 o'clock so "you need to get in quickly."

And finally Lidl, Alice explained that they don't have yellow discount stickers but green and orange, highlighting the fact you can get meat on its use by date for 90p.

She also told customers to keep an eye out for Too Good To Waste Boxes.
