This Morning shares exact time to do your 'yellow sticker' discount shop at Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons and more

Alice Beer has explained the exact time to do your shopping to get more for your money.

The This Morning consumer editor appeared on the daytime television show on Monday, March 14 to discuss price reductions at supermarkets in order to help customers save money as costs go up.

Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Josie Gibson, Alice shared her own shopping basket after saving £3.79 on chicken and bagging vegetables for just 14p by purchasing yellow sticker items.

She told the presenters: "That's what we found yesterday, but you do need to focus on your own individual supermarket. They are all quite cagey about it, they all say it varies from store to store and of course it will."

Alice then shared what she knew about yellow sticker timings at Aldi, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl.

This Morning's consumer editor Alice Beer on when to shop at Aldi, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl (ITV)

Sainsbury's

When it comes to shopping at Sainsbury's, Alice found that the majority of items are reduced around 7pm, with perishable products reduced by up to 75%.

She said shoppers should look out for the deisgnated "yellow sticker" section.

"Sainsbury's again varies store to store," Alice explained. "Some canny shoppers say it goes down 25% at 1pm, it goes down 50% at 5pm at 75% between 7pm and 8pm.

"At 7pm in a Sainsbury's you will find the majority of items reduced. Sainsbury's put them in one designated section, other stores you'll find them in amongst the non-reduced food."

Aldi

Speaking of Aldi, Alice said: "The reduced stickers are quite rare and the times vary but it will be 75% off perishables, so your fruit, veg, meat, on the last day."

Alice also explained that there is 30% off Aldi products with imperfect packaging, while Aldi's "leftover" recipe ideas on its website is a good way of reducing waste.

Tesco

Alice explained shoppers should head to Tesco at the end of the day for the biggest reductions, but warned that on Sundays it's earlier.

She added: "Tesco are very good at distrubuting their unused food and their used by food, especially their bakery sections on the Olio app.

"Have a look at that and you will be able to go and collect free bakery items, such as bread, croissants and pastries from Tesco through that app."

Morrisons

Alice explained that all the bargains are out at Morrisons at the end of the day and told shoppers to look for the Magic Box, £3.49, which is sold through the Too Good To Go app and has a value of £10.

"Dont be afraid to ask the staff in stores for any of these things," she explained. "That's what they are there for. They are you to help you get what you want, and you want a good deal on your shopping."

Lidl

The consumer expert said: "Lidl dont have yellow stickers they have green and orange stickers, the morning of the last day of use-by date for meat you can get meat for 90p.

"Look for green trays in the chiller and look for their too good to waste boxes, ask th staff. You can get 5kg of slightly wonky veg for £1.50."
