This Morning's 'air fryer hacks' slammed by viewers

This Morning fans were left unimpressed during an air fryer segment on Thursday.

Consumer expert Alice Beer was on hand to share her "hacks" amid the kitchen appliance becoming increasingly popular. Many households are opting to use the device as it is cheaper and often healthier than an oven or frying pan.

Air fryers have never been more in demand, with many shops and online retailers selling out of the item. As they are smaller than most ovens, they also cook your food in a shorter time period.

Alice joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in the This Morning studio on Thursday to share her knowledge about the appliances. She explained there are a wide variety and advised people do their research and always go for a reputable brand.

Showing viewers her "hacks", she wowed Alison and Dermot by demonstrating how you can make soft-boiled eggs by simply popping eggs in the drawer and cooking for nine minutes.

Alice also showed some "roast" potatoes, chickpeas, and homemade crisps. Dermot appeared to be astounded as the potatoes had come from a tin. Alice said: "You're staring at that like you've never seen a tin before".

Dermot replied: "I just... I buy potatoes, I've never bought them in a tin".

While the hosts were impressed with Alice's air fryer creations, many viewers at home were seemingly disappointed. Taking to Twitter, David McKay said: "Popping food into an air fryer isn’t a hack, it’s literally the air fryer's purpose".

Dario said: "How to use a kitchen appliance is hardly a 'hack'", while Stephanie said: "Sticking an egg in an air fryer isn't a hack, people have been doing it for ages". Victoria said: "Don't think we will be paying over £100 for an air fryer to do roast potatoes and chickpeas in".
