A former producer on This Morning has urged ITV bosses to get rid of Holly Willoughby.
The presenter, 42, has remained tight-lipped following the downfall of her former friend and colleague, Phillip Schofield but will be returning to screens next week alongside Josie Gibson.
Holly issued a brief statement last week expressing how hurt she felt after Phillip admitted to lying about his affair with a much younger member of the This Morning team.
Following his bombshell news, the star took an extended period of leave but is set to return on Monday, June 5.
However, one former producer has spoken out and said the show needs a good shake-up.
Former editor and executive editor of This Morning, Shu Richmond has penned an open letter to bosses.
She penned on Want To Work In TV: "Sorry again, Holly, but in the circumstances I reckon it needs a new presenting team.
"We've never met and you seem a lovely person and a great presenter but it looks like you might have got tarred by the proverbial brush.
"There's some fine presenter specimens already hanging around in-house but a fresh face or two would help."
Shu continued: "There's a couple of people I'd love to put on that sofa but you ain’t asking me…
"Or how about a TV presenter's parent/child pairing, covering the different generations? You want on-screen arguments, right?"
However, Holly wasn't the only person to find themselves in Shu's firing line as she also took aim at This Morning's editor, Martin Frizzel.
"You know how this works, you've been around the block as much as I have," she said before adding: "You were at the wheel at the time and regardless of your excellent qualities as an Editor something has to change, someone has to go.
"Like the sacrificial goat, I rather suspect it's going to be you, not necessarily your fault, of course.
"If you fancy a drink where we share war stories (I was Editor of the show when the John Leslie scandal blew up – and engineered for Phillip Schofield to replace him)."
Despite calls for her to walk away, sources close to Holly told the Mirror earlier this week that she has no plans to leave This Morning.
The star joined the programme in 2009, replacing Fern Britton and became a firm favourite with viewers as well as best friends with her former co-star, Phillip.
