Hit show This Morning have paid tribute to Glasgow curry king and creator of the tikka masala Mr Ali.
Ali Ahmed Aslam, the entrepreneur behind the city's Shish Mahal restaurant, sadly passed away aged 77 on December 19, with many paying their respects to the restaurant owner in recent days.
The city chef opened up his star Glasgow restaurant in 1964, following in the footsteps of his father, Noor Mohammed, who ran what many regard as Glasgow's first 'proper' Indian restaurant, the Green Gates. And now the ITV show has got involved in tributes to the late chef, with hosts of the ITV show, Josie Gibons, and Craig Doyle, sharing their surprise at the fact tikka masala was actually created in our city.

Mr Ali is said to have changed British curry forever by inventing the now hugely popular dish in 1970, with This Morning guests Matthew Wright and Nick Ferrari also sharing their thoughts.
Matthew Wright: "Legend has it that a customer way back when ordered the chicken ticker, which is cooked in the oven dry, and when it was served up they said 'this is a bit dry have you got any sauce'?"
He went on to say: "I've travelled a lot in India and the most amazing thing is you then eat it [tikka masala] in India and realise it has made its way around the world. It is fantastic!
"Sadly lost."
LBC's Nick Ferrari was also part of the discussion. After being asked whether he knew that the tikka masala was actually created in Glasgow he said: "I have to confess, yes I did know.
"When you have children and you go to a curry house, it [tikka masala] is a great introduction for children to taste spicy food because it's not too hot."
The radio host also shared a pretty impressive fact, he added: "And I do know this, it is a more popular dish in the United Kingdom than fish and chips now."
