Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary welcomed Hollywood actor Kelsey Grammer onto Friday's This Morning but the ITV show was thrown into chaos when the hosts were mistakenly told to send the programme to an ad break.
The This Morning hosts quizzed the Fraiser star about his new movie Jesus Revolution, with the actor set to portray Chuck Smith in the film focussed on spiritual awakening in the 1970s.
In the middle of the interview, Alison and Dermot appeared to look confused as they interrupted the Hollywood actor and explained they would be taking a quick pause.
Alison explained: "Unfortunately we're going to have to throw to break, we've had a bit of an issue, we will see you very soon."
The camera panned away while the studio remained in silence before the hosts then jumped in to say there had been a mistake and they wouldn't be going to a break after all.
Dermot noted: "Oh – sorry, we had a little issue in our ears there Kelsey, and now we've been told that we're back," before Alison added: "We're back, we're not going to break."
In true Alison style, the This Morning host burst into laughter while Kelsey appeared slightly baffled by the incident before they continued on with the interview.
ITV viewers were baffled by the technological blunder as one commented: "That was really weird, they don't cut to an ad break with that speed if they're just having a minor technical issue."
"That ad break thing was odd, I was expecting like an alert screen coming," a second said and another wrote: "What happened there? Break, then no break?"
"Strange, why would they be told in their ear to 'go to break' and then say it's an error?" another questioned while a fifth said: "What was that ad break thing all about?"
Earlier in the show, Alison joked about her co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield being replaced from This Morning amid rumours the pair are embroiled in a feud.
During a discussion about the implications of AI, Alison said: "We could be replaced one day! Remember when Holly and Phil had that robot in with that woman, it was amazing, I couldn't believe it.
"Presenters could maybe be replaced by AI. It's kind of like a cloning in a way, and you don't actually have to be there."
