This Morning favourite Craig Doyle to host show alongside Holly Willoughby as bosses keen to give him chance

Craig Doyle appears to be a This Morning favourite with bosses as ITV confirm the Dubliner will host the show for two days this week.

Craig will co host the popular daytime show alongside Holly Willoughby on Wednesday and Thursday. It is unclear about who will land a permanent role on the show alongside Holly, but bosses are keen to give Craig a chance.

Craig previously filled in several weeks ago, and viewers praised the host for his relaxed presenting skills and his charming wit alongside Alison Hammond. Holly has returned to present the show following the exit of Phillip Schofield after he quit ITV altogether after revealing he'd had an affair with a younger colleague.

Following his departure, his co-star of 14 years Holly took a two-week break, returning on Monday, June 5 for the first time without Phil. During both Phil and Holly's absences, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary took the reins. The presenters usually only present the show on a Friday and during the holidays.

Craig also stepped up, replacing Dermot as he took some time off to celebrate turning 50 with friends and family. The Dublin-born presenter is no stranger to our screens.

He has hosted a huge array of shows on Irish Network channel RTE, as well as his other work commitments with channels including BBC, ITV, and BT Sport. The much-loved presenter even had his own chat show on RTE One back in 2010 called Tonight with Craig Doyle, as well as RTE Two's Craig Doyle Live, which ran from 2011 to 2013.

  • This Morning continues on weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
