This Morning fans send clear message over Dermot O'Leary as he cosies up with Holly Willoughby

Dermot O'Leary has been flooded with messages from fans who have made their feelings clear about his future position on This Morning. The presenter returned for another week at the helm of the ITV daytime show alongside Holly Willoughby on Monday (June 19).

Last week, Dermot joined Holly as her latest co-host following Phillip Schofield's shock exit. The TV and radio presenter was previously drafted in to cover for Holly alongside Alison last month after it was revealed that Schofield had quit the popular daytime show after more than 20 years amid rumours of a 'feud' with his former co-host.

However, he later stepped back from ITV altogether after admitting to lying to Holly and his employers about a relationship with a much younger ITV colleague. Following her two-week break amid the fallout from Phillip's admission, Holly, 42, addressed the scandal head on in a statement read out live on air as she was supported by fellow This Morning star Josie Gibson.

And after hosting alongside both Josie and Craig Doyle during her first week back, Holly was reunited with a familiar face in the shape of Dermot with the pair presenting together for the first time since 2014 before the former X Factor star confirmed he'd be alongside Holly for two weeks.

As he kicked off his second full week on the show, with viewers used to seeing him every Friday alongside Alison Hammond and only hosting the other days of the week during the various holidays throughout the year, Dermot posted a snap of himself and Holly on Instagram.

As the pair beamed for the camera, the 50-year-old typed: "Back on This Morning for another week with my lovely mate Holly." And it didn't take fans long to respond and demand Dermot is a permanent replacement for the show's former main host.

@caronbeesley said: "Please make this a permanent pairing." @jamierrance commented: "Holly couldn’t ask for a better male co-presenter." @lyndyloo1959 pleaded: "Please keep Dermot!!" @wendy.lu22 shared: "You are fabulous Dermot and very funny . True professional x."

@justincredib11e replied: "The man for the job." @hud1967 commented: "Good to see Dermot back this week don’t let him go @ this morning…" @ccwc75 typed: "Absolutely love you and Holly presenting together!" @commander_robert_bilic added: "I think this is THE new pairing! You're a delight together; fun, funny, cool, and caring."
