One woman, Dionne, rang in and asked for guidance, as she left a 21-year marriage in 2019. The 57-year-old said she has tried the dating apps, but cannot find anyone who is "honest".

She added: "The thing is, and Alison you can probably relate to this, I'm a plus sized lady." She explained she feels when men realise this, they are no longer interested.

Carol said: "That's disgusting". But Alison had a different view. She said: "If that's what they think, they aren't the one for you. But there are plenty of men who love all that fluff!

"Get yourself out there, get to those Zumba classes, get yourself to the gym. I love the gym, I don't do anything, I just check out the talent."

Viewers at home were quick to praise Alison, after her outburst had them "howling". Taking to Twitter, Daniel Harper said: "We need to protect Alison Hammond at all costs."

Sarah said: "Alison has me howling you know, a KWEEN" [sic]. Mr Rico said: "Alison is just hilarious".
