This Morning fans fume as Alison Hammond says she failed to notice missing £10k from bank

This Morning host Alison Hammond has been branded "out of touch" after revealing she was charged £10,000 for a car service and did not notice the missing money.

The 47-year-old shocked fans of the ITV daytime magazine show and her Friday co-host Dermot O'Leary when she opened up about the money mishap from the garage.

Alison was explaining to guests Gyles Brandreth, 74, and Carol Vorderman, 61, about how she took her car for a service and was meant to be charged £1,000 for the work when discussing stories where people had been overcharged during a segment of the programme.

However, she added that the garage had overcharged her by £9,000 in error before revealing that she did not notice the money had been taken by mistake until she was alerted by the worker a month later.

The TV host recalled: "I got my car serviced. I paid for the service and didn't notice until they phoned me that they'd charged me £10,000. I hadn't checked my balance.

"They noticed a month later and called me to say they'd meant to charge £1,000, but they'd charged £10,000 instead. I didn't even notice. That was nice that they told me."

Following the jaw-dropping revelation, which came shortly after her and Dermot had discussed the cost of living crisis, viewers of the show took to social media to voice their displeasure at the former Big Brother contestant.

One person wrote on Twitter : " @AlisonHammond is so out of touch with how people are struggling right now! Announced this morning that she hadn’t noticed garage had charged her £10,000 instead of £1,000 for a service and was contacted by them a month later!!! Disgusting."

A second person said: "I cringed when I heard her say that this morning, she's so out of touch, it's kind of embarrassing."

Viewers took to Twitter to criticise the This Morning host (ITV)

Another commented: " @thismorning yet another program today where the presenters are totally out of touch with what is happening in the real world. Either get some genuine presenters or take the program off air."

A fourth added: "Nice to see the cost of living crisis being discussed and then a few mins later Alison Hammond recalling a story about 10k being taken out her account and didn't notice until a month later someone phoned to say... Relatable."
