This Morning fans begged for more as the ITV show featured its first ever deaf chef.
As hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presented the show today, they were joined by Yvonne Cobb, who owns Yumma Foods that helps to make cooking and recipes more accessible to all by including British Sign Language, interpreters and subtitles.
Yvonne was on hand to cook some Spicy Chimichangas, joined by her interpreters. It is the show's first ever cookery segment led by a deaf chef, with Yvonne keen to make it more accessible to those who use British Sign Language as their preferred language.
The chimichangas went down a treat with both Holly and Phil as well as viewers at home. The chicken dish comes out at a cost of just 40p a parcel and viewers were thrilled with the inclusive segment.
On her segment, Yvonne explained: "I’m trying really hard to make sure there’s more sign language on television, and to ensure that I’m signing the recipes … I’ve been very honoured over the years that many young children and older deaf people are feeling more confident in the kitchen as a result of my cookery school classes.
"This is my dream come true that I’m here. I’m so proud of being deaf, that’s who I am so for me deafness is something I embrace. It’s a privilege for me to be here with you using my language and I do hope that it will inspire others to learn sign language."
"Yes #ThisMorning for this cooking segment. YES JUST YES!!!," one viewer wrote, whilst another added: "Loving #Yvonne on #ThisMorning and sitting here doing all the signs for various ingredients. More please! @thismorning."
A third shared: " #ThisMorning great seeing Yvonne on and I’m learning some new signs #bsl. More of this please!" as a fourth wrote: "Right get me a chimichanga right now. Well done #ThisMorning for a BSL cooking segment, more of that please!"
It comes just a few days after Gino D'Acampo sparked fury among This Morning viewers when he used a £100 truffle in his recipe. Gino was making a creamy chipolata and mascarpone pasta, which he described as a "perfect midweek dinner".
At the time, many fumed it was inappropriate to have included the truffle in the recipe for its extortionate price tag. Angry fans took to Twitter to slam the show for using such an expensive food to garnish the pasta and it could have been done without.
" #ThisMorning for goodness sake, please use your cooking slot to produce healthy meals on a budget which I’m sure your viewers are crying out for. It’s not rocket science. Gino’s recipe with truffle was just insulting #Furious," one wrote.
Another added: "A #CostOfLivingCrisis and @thismorning is cooking with Truffle costing £100/£150. Seriously? #OutOfTouch You poor people can use essence or extract! #ThisMorning," as a third angry fan wrote: "Is #Thismorning deliberately trying to antagonise viewers? We're in the middle of a financial crisis and they're using white truffle in their pasta recipe. They are trying to justify the £100 price tag because it flavours your eggs... wtf! Please @thismorning read the room!"
