This Morning confirms Holly Willoughby’s return date and co-presenter

This Morning have confirmed that Holly Willoughby will be returning to host the ITV daytime show.

The news was revealed during the last moments of Friday’s episode by stand-in host Alison Hammond, who said: “Holly will be back on Monday with Josie.”

Gibson, 38, has appeared regularly on the show since 2019 and guest presented several episodes.

There have been question marks over whether Willoughby, 42, would be back on the sofa following the fallout from former co-presenter Phillip Schofield’s sudden exit from the show two weeks ago after reports that they had fallen out.

Since then, Schofield, 61, has admitted to having had an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague, which he lied about, resulting in him being dropped by YMU, his talent agency of 35 years.

ITV have also instructed a barrister to review the facts around his exit.

Last night, the scandal-hit presenter gave interviews to The Sun and BBC in which he said he has “lost everything” and there is nothing ahead of him but “blackness”.

He also confirmed that he and Willoughby are no longer speaking and was adamant that she knew nothing about his affair.

Willoughby, who is currently on holiday in Portugal, has previously stated she had been kept in the dark about the affair, that Schofield had denied it when she questioned him about it and that she had been “hurt” to learn that he lied to her.
